3.1 Terms and definitions

3.1.1 Terms defined in ISO 10303-1

For the purposes of this document, the following terms defined in ISO 10303-1 apply:

For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply:

non-countable material

material the components of which cannot be counted or do not need to be counted

EXAMPLE    Oil, Helium and sand are examples of non-countable material.

3.1.2.2
part

discrete object that can come into existence as a consequence of a manufacturing process

NOTE    A part can contain components, which can be parts or non-countable materials.

3.1.2.3
raw material

crude or partially processed material needed to initiate a manufacturing transformation process

EXAMPLE    Crude oil and iron ore are examples of raw material.

3.2 Abbreviated terms

For the purposes of this document, the following abbreviated terms apply:
